I'm turning 40 this year, and I've been afraid of ghosts for as long as I can remember. I've been making an active attempt to desensitize myself to the fear, and am doing much better. But I'm determined that this year I should really put that to the test.
So, as a 40th birthday present, I'm trying to get a weekend at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. My goal is to get reservations for some time in October, and to stay on the fourth floor. Preferably in one of the notoriously most haunted rooms, though I know those are first come, first served as people arrive and check in, so I'll need to get there promptly to make that happen.
I'll need to plan for airfare, room fees, meals, and a ghost tour.
The catch? My husband has been out of work for many months, so all our savings are depleted. And I've been struggling with chronic pain that has required a decrease in my own working hours. So funds for my pilgrimage to the Stanley are uncertain at best.
Would you like to donate a little pocket change to help make my dream a reality? Know someone who might want to help out? A gift of a dollar here and a dollar there could certainly make the difference.
I promise to blog all about my experience, and post photos of the event. And I promise that if anything paranormal does happen while I'm there, I won't freak out. I will walk toward whatever it is, rather than away from it. No yelling or fleeing. This is about discovery and facing old phobias head on.
